Current Road Bans


Effective March 21, 2019 at 8:00AM a road ban will be placed on all municipal oiled, base coursed and paved roads in Special Areas 2, 3, & 4 restricting bus, truck and trailer traffic to SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT (75%) OF AUTHORIZED LOAD LIMITS: and on all gravel roads restricting load to 100% of authorized limits.

Except as allowed under the act or regulation.

The following roads are restricted to One Hundred percent (100%) of authorized load limits:

-TWP 25-0 (former Secondary Highway 565) from Pollockville to Highway 3;
-Hanna Access (TWP 31-2) from Highway 36 to Hanna;
-TWP 28-0 from Hwy 41 to Rng Rd 4-1 (Pioneer Elevator Road).

Effective, January 24, 2019,
the west bound lane for the local bridge structure is closed. Signage is posted at the site.
Effective January 23, 2019
the Special Areas Board is informing the public that a Bridge Restriction is in effect for a structure located 6 miles east of Spondin on TWP 33-4 on NE-22-33-11-W4, restricting all traffic to a minimum of 4,500 kgs.

Effective Monday, June 4, 2018 at 8:00AM all loading restrictions are removed, with the exception of:

a specific oiled road in Special Areas 2 restricting bus, truck and trailer traffic to Ninety percent (90%) of authorized load limits except as allowed under the act or regulation on the following roads:

-local paved surfaced road south of Hanna described at 3 miles south of Highway 9 along Range Road 14-4 and 4 miles west on Township Road 30-4 to Junction Highway 862.

Current Fire Bans

Effective March 19, 2019 a Fire Advisory is in effect for Special Areas No. 2, 3 &4.

To complete a controlled burn, please contact your local district office during business hours to complete a controlled burn notification form.

Safe campfires are allowed in campgrounds and random camping areas, but may be restricted if conditions do not improve. Incinerator fires are permitted at a minimum distance of 30m away from structures and 3m away from combustible materials. Controlled Burns may be restricted.

The Towns, Villages or Provincial Parks within the Special Areas handle their own restrictions and should be contacted directly.
