Sheerness – Deadfish System
Special Areas works with Alberta Environment & Parks (AEP) to support operations of the Sheerness – Deadfish water system, including irrigation. Special Areas is contracted by AEP to operate this system; AEP remains the owner of the system infrastructure.
The Carolside South Irrigation Advisory Committee (CSIAC) is responsible for advising Special Areas and AEP on the administration and operation of:
- Sheerness Pipeline
- Blowdown Canal
- Carolside Reservoir
- Janet Reservoir
- Deadfish Pumphouse, Canal, and Reservoir
- Woodrow Reservoir
CSIAC includes representatives from irrigation areas in the Sheerness – Deadfish system. These members are elected every four years following municipal elections and are required to reside in the areas they represent. Special Areas appoints an Advisory Councillor as well as the Chairman of CSIAC.
