What Is A Road Use Agreement?
A Road Use Agreement is a tool used to protect municipal roads by helping Special Areas monitor heavy vehicle traffic, manage wear and tear on the roads, and plan for future maintenance. Special Areas Enforcement Services help monitor roads and ensure Road Use Agreements are enforced to help prevent problems like road damage.
Agricultural producers are exempt from requiring Road Use Agreements.
Even though you may not need a Road Use Agreement, we still want to know if you will be hauling:
- 6 or more loads (including legal & overweight)
- Moving to the same location
- In a 24 hour period
If this is you, reach out to your local Road Foreman! You will need to know your planned route(s), haul dates, and any other important information. Sharing this information with our Road Services team helps us better plan maintenance work and keep our roads in good shape.
