20 Apr Special Areas Road Maintenance – April to October
From April 16 to October 15, Special Areas is responsible for some of the secondary highways in the Special Areas.
Special Areas and Alberta Transportation partner on sharing costs to develop and surface some secondary highways. This is why you will often see Special Areas crews out surfacing and repairing these roads. As a part of this agreement, Special Areas only maintains the road-top itself. AT continues to look after signs, ditch cutting, culverts or anything in the ditch.
Maintenance on local roads is managed by Special Areas Transportation Services based out of the Youngstown Service Centre.
