11 May 2026 Annual Ratepayer Meetings
2026 Annual Ratepayer Meetings Are Coming to Your Community!
Special Areas is hitting the road this spring! Our 2026 Annual Ratepayer Meetings take place throughout May and June. With more than 1,200 kilometres traveled, this annual “tour” brings Advisory Councillors and Special Areas staff directly to you.
These meetings have been part of Special Areas’ story since the very beginning—and they remain one of the most important ways residents can take part in municipal decision‑making. You’ll hear updates on key programs and projects from both the past and current year, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and bring motions forward to Advisory Council.
No two meetings are ever the same. Topics and motions reflect the diverse voices in the room—from local project concerns to policy ideas that can shape programs across the Special Areas. Motions raised at ratepayer meetings are reviewed by Advisory
Council each fall and often lead to new initiatives and improvements.
You can also pick up helpful resources at the meetings, including audited financial statements, newsletters, presentations, and public reports. Can’t attend in person? No problem—digital copies of presentations and documents will be available on the Ratepayer Meeting webpage.
If you’re unable to attend your local meeting and still want to share a concern, your Advisory Councillor is ready to hear from you. Contact information is available here.
Your voice matters—join the conversation and help shape the future of Special Areas.
