From October 16 to March 31 each year, maintenance services on highways in the Special Areas are managed by Alberta Transportation. This includes things like snowplowing, sanding, and other winter maintenance work on both primary and secondary highways.
Maintenance on local roads is managed by Special Areas Transportation Services based out of the Youngstown Service Centre.
