11 Oct Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation
Fire Chiefs from across the Special Areas want to give thanks to all our volunteers for answering the call! They also want to thank the families, friends, and businesses throughout the region that support our firefighters. Without your support, we wouldn’t have the fire fighters we have today.
Special Areas supports fourteen fire departments and over 225 volunteer firefighters throughout the Special Areas, including: Altario, Big Stone, Bindloss, Buffalo, Cereal, Cessford, Consort, Empress, Hanna, Homestead Coulee, Jenner, Oyen, Veteran, and Youngstown.
Special Areas Fire fighters respond to pretty much any kind of call imaginable: motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), medical assistance requests, grass fires, and anything RCMP and EMS respond to. Over the past year, Special Areas fire departments have responded to over 70 calls throughout our region, with departments seeing more and more medical calls every day.
On behalf of the Special Areas Board and all who call Special Areas home, we want to thank all our volunteer firefighters throughout the Special Areas. Thank you to all who answer the call.
