30 Jun John Armstrong – Retiring after 37 years!
After 37 years, John Armstrong is retiring!
On June 2, Youngstown Hall was packed with people who celebrated this milestone with John and his family.
John celebrated the night with some of his previous summer students, friends, family, co-workers and community members. It was a night for the books, from the Johnny Parks stories to scooping ice cream to a few tears shed and a questionable outfit.
Jordon Christianson presented John with a Special Areas brand & plaque to help commemorate his 37-year public service career.
“Congratulations on a well-deserved retirement! Your time here at Special Areas is a great example of a career well served. You have truly left a lasting and permanent legacy in our world-class parks and campgrounds. Your vision has turned the bald prairie into green, lush, welcoming parks families enjoy. Your strong leadership and mentorship of countless young people in our Parks departments not only transformed these spaces but also left a meaningful impact throughout the region.”
Please join us in congratulating John on a fantastic career, and best of luck in his retirement!
