Survey: Richardson’s Ground Squirrel Impact on Agricultural Lands in Special Areas

Survey: Richardson’s Ground Squirrel Impact on Agricultural Lands in Special Areas

We want to hear from you!

The Shadow Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, John Barlow, requested Agricultural Service Boards (ASB’s) gather critical data regarding the impacts of infestations of Richardson’s ground squirrel (commonly referred to as gophers) on agricultural lands.

Timely action is needed by the federal government to support prairie producers facing increasingly severe pest damage. Feedback collected through this survey will be forwarded to the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food. Survey data is intended to help quantify crop/pasture damage from gophers, and how this has been impacted by the deregistration of 2% Liquid Strychnine (PCP#30433) as a control option for producers in Canada.
