10 Dec Special Areas Welcomes New Director of Regional Initiatives
The Special Areas Board is excited to share Mr. Jordon Christianson has accepted a temporary (two year) role as the Director of Regional Initiatives with the Special Areas Board.

In partnership with Alberta Municipal Affairs, this new role will provide strategic advice on how Special Areas can address critical challenges facing our region, including regional healthcare, irrigation, and economic development. As Director of Regional Initiatives, Jordon will represent Special Areas on the province’s East-Central Region Rural Health Committee. This group is tasked with completing an assessment of regional healthcare needs, while working alongside our local Medical Boards in providing long term healthcare revitalization. With the completion of Phase 2 work on the MD of Acadia & Special Areas Regional Irrigation project, Jordon will focus on the creation of a municipally controlled corporation to support continued project development. Finally, Jordon will represent Special Areas on several economic development groups, including Palliser Economic Partnership.
